RICA Exam Prep

This course will prepare teacher candidates to successfully pass the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) as required by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials. This online training course includes 6 live sessions with a focus on a subtest for each session.

You will also receive self-paced video support, links to key resources, review of test structure, practice questions solved with video support, embedded RICA test prep videos and online resources connected, student feedback and reflection, and practice tests online with self-report scores.

This course is intended for:

  • Current preservice teachers seeking a Multiple Subject Credential from any approved credential program
  • Current candidates enrolled in the UC Merced Teacher Preparation Program (contact our credential office for more information)
  • In-service teachers credentialed during COVID-19 who are required to complete the RICA exam prior to clearing credential

UC Merced Extension offers this online course to any teacher candidate preparing for the RICA exam and will be taught by Karen Dodson, M.A., Instructor | Teacher Preparation Program.
