CalTPA Seminar

LogoThis seminar is for teacher candidates who have completed their coursework and need to complete their CalTPA assessments as state-mandated for Multiple and Single Subject Credential Program candidates.

Our seminar specifically supports multiple subject candidates and single subject candidates seeking a credential in math, science, social science, and/or English. You will be guided through the 4-step cycle for each of the rubrics with examples so that you know what to expect during your CalTPA assessment.

UC Merced Extension offers this course to any teacher candidate seeking preliminary and/or clear credentials. 
 

Module Descriptions: 

EDUC 889.1 and 889.2: TPA Seminar Modules are designed to be personalized seminars in which students will have individual support as they complete CalTPA 1 and 2 assessments. These assessments partially fulfill the requirements outlined by CTC to earn a preliminary credential. 

Course Goal and Outcomes

  • Course Goal: The Goal of this course is that all candidates will complete CalTPA 1/CalTPA 2 and submit it earning a passing score by the end of the class.
  • Learning Outcomes: Course Student Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are linked with Teacher Performance Expectations (TPEs) outlined by the CTC and with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), which are informed by the Extension Education Programs Learning Outcomes (EPLOs).
  • English Language Learner (ELL), English Language Development (ELD) and/or Specifically Designed
  • Academic Instruction for English (SDAIE) Course Component: CLO 1, 3 
  • Inclusive Instruction Course Component: CLO 2, 3, 4 
  • Technology Course Component: CLO 4 
  • Classroom Management Course Component: CLO 1, 2
